Barnes excited to pick up an offer from the Florida Gators

The Florida Gators coaching staff have been working hard the last few weeks to build their recruiting board for the 2021 class after building a solid 2020 class.

In late January, the coaching staff offered defensive back Ryan Barnes (6-2, 175, Gaithersburg, MD. Quincy Orchard) after the Gators stopped by his school.

“Coach Christian Robinson came by school and then told my coach he was offering me,” Barnes said of the coach who offered him in January. “He said he liked my film and that I have received a scholarship offer from Florida.”

Barnes who has 19 offers now says this offer was a big one to him as he spent a lot of time in Gainesville growing up.

“I was definitely excited about the offer,” he said on what the offer means to him. “It means a lot because Florida is a strong academic school and has a strong football program that would help develop my talent and skill. I spent most of my life living in Gainesville and I have a connection to Florida.”

The defensive back knows a lot about the Gators program since he lived so close to campus but he’s looking forward to getting back to town.

“I know that Florida is a top 10 academic university and has a quality football program that develops student athlete for the next level,” Barnes said on what he knows about Florida. “I’m looking forward to getting back down to campus.”

Barnes has spent the last few years watching Dan Mullen and he thinks the Gators head coach is building the program back up.

“I think he’s doing a great job,” he said on what he thinks about the job Dan Mullen is doing. “He’s bringing Florida back to where it was when I was a kid. I think that their defense is talented, strong fast and aggressive.”

Next up for Barnes, he hopes will be a visit to Gainesville as he’s trying to set a date to visit with the Gators coaching staff.

“Yes, I do,” Barnes, said on if he plans to visit Florida. “Coach Robinson said that he would be getting back to me on dates for a visit.”
