Anglin wants to visit the Florida Gators after picking up an offer

Billy Napier and the rest of the Florida Gators coaching staff have put an emphasis on recruiting the state of Florida in the 2023 class and beyond and they’ve offered several guys in state as of late.

Safety Jaremiah Anglin Jr (6-2, 184, Lake Wales, FL. High) picked up an offer from the Gators last week after he talked to two of Florida’s coaches.

“Patrick Toney and Coach KC [Keary Colbert],” Anglin said on the coaches who offered him last week. “They were just saying that I’m a great football player and great person off the field. I will fit in great to the Gator system.”

Anglin was glad to hear the news from the Gators and was caught off guard by how quick the offer came from Florida.

“It means a lot, growing up liking the Gators, it meant a lot,” he said on what the offer means to him. “To be honest, I was kind of shocked that it came so fast because they just followed me on Twitter and then like two days later, they offered.”

Defensive coordinator Patrick Toney explained to Anglin just how he would fit into Florida’s defense if he was to pick the Gators.

“He told me that I can play any position in the secondary,” Anglin said on where Florida sees him playing. “My coverage skills are good enough to play corner and I’m aggressive enough to play nickel or safety. He said whichever position best fits me and the system then I will play there.”

Anglin admits he has interest in the Gators, but he wants to continue to build a bond with the coaching staff.

“They’re up there a little bit,” he said on where Florida stands in his recruitment. “I feel like we’re just now starting to build that bond, so they have to show a little bit more love and keep it up.”

Several other schools are recruiting Anglin hard and several schools are starting to talk to the safety as well.

“Florida State, Cincinnati, South Carolina, and Louisville,” Anglin said on schools recruiting him hard. “Some schools that haven’t offered yet that I’m hearing from are Ohio State, I just heard from Alabama. It has been a wild two weeks.”

INSIDERS TAKE: Anglin says he will visit Florida in March, but he isn’t sure of a date.
