Andrew Savaiinaea commits to the Florida Gators

The Florida Gators picked up their 14th member of the Class of 2022 on Sunday following a weekend of official visits.

Outsider linebacker Andrew Savaiinaea (6-3, 273, Graham, WA. Graham-Kapowsin) committed to Florida after taking an official visit to Gainesville over the weekend.

“I’d like to being by giving all glory to God for allowing me to do what I love and I’m grateful to be in this position,” Saviinaea tweeted. “With that being said, I would like to give thanks to Coach [Billy] Napier and Coach [Mike] Peterson along with the rest of the UF staff. With that being said I will be committing to the University of Florida #GOGATORS.”

Savaiinaea picked up an offer while in Gainesville on Saturday after the Gators’ coaching staff had been recruiting him since arriving in Gainesville in December.

The Washington native committed to Florida over offers from California, Kentucky, and Oregon among others.

Savaiinaea played some receiver in high school and caught 24 passes for 317 yards and nine touchdowns. While playing defense, Savaiinaea had 18 tackles including four tackles for a loss and three sacks.

With Savaiinaea’s commitment, it marks the first one for Mike Peterson since he returned to Gainesville and is the linebacker is also the first outside linebacker in the class.
