Alston previews his Florida Gators visit for June

The Florida Gators have lined up an impressive list of visitors for the month of June already as the dead period is set to end for the first time in well over a year.

Running back Damari Alston (5-11, 205, Atlanta, GA. Woodward Academy) will visit Florida the first week of June and he says the way the coaches have recruited him is a big reason why the Gators will get the first visit.

“I’ve been keeping in constant communication with Florida and they wanted me to get down there as soon as possible,” Alston said on why he decided to visit Florida first. “It was the perfect time to do so I just did it.”

Alston has been a top target for the Gators for a while now but he says the coaching staff has started to recruit him even harder as of late.

“They’ve picked it up even more since I’m getting ready to get on campus,” he said of Florida’s recruitment of him. “They’re going even harder now, I’ve been talking to a lot of the coaches. It’s a pretty good relationship, everyone text me, all of the coaches are fired up about me.”

Running backs coach Greg Knox is excited to see Alston in person and he has explained just how the Gators would use him on offense if he comes to Florida.

“Coach Knox just tells me that I’m a priority for him,” Alston said on the message from Greg Knox. “He wants to get me down there so he can see me. He feels like I’m an all-around back that can do it all in their offense, catch the ball out of the backfield and run some power plays when needed.”

When Alston steps foot on campus in a few weeks, the running back has a few things he wants to see from the Gators.

“First is just seeing the coaches, I just want to see how they’re in person,” he said on what he wants to see out of the visit. “I want to see everyone face to face, see the facilities and things like that. My mom and my dad will be with me, they’re looking forward to it.”

Alston has already set up two other official visits and he also has an unofficial visit in mind once the dead period ends.

“Northwestern and Penn State,” Alston said on other official visits set. “I haven’t decided on the other official visits, I might not take an official visit to Georgia Tech because it’s 10 minutes away.”
