Alston has the Florida Gators as one of his top schools

The Florida Gators currently do not have a running back commit in the 2021 class so a lot of attention will be paid to the position in the 2022 class.

One of the top Gators top targets is 2022 running back Damari Alston (5-11, 205, Atlanta, GA. Woodward Academy) who says he talks to Florida a lot.

“I talk to Coach [Greg] Knox about every day,” Alston said on the coach he talks to from Florida. “They’re recruiting me pretty hard and I’m a top running back on their board.”

Running backs coach Greg Knox has explained to Alston just how he would be used in the Gators offense.

“He lets me know that I’m a priority basically,” he said on the message from Knox. “He basically says that it fits me perfectly and he wants to do everything with me because I’m a versatile back. He wants me catching out of the backfield and wants me to be everywhere on the field.”

Knox has also broken down the depth chart with Alston and explained why he’s needed in the 2022 class for Florida.

“He says he needs me,” Alston on if Knox has expressed a need for him. “He says I’m a priority at this point and they need a running back like me in the backfield.”

Alston has yet to visit Gainesville but he says Florida is high on his list of schools because of a few reasons.

“I love them, definitely one of my top schools,” he said on his interest in Florida. “The culture, fan base and the love they show me. I love that they play big SEC ball.”

When it comes time to narrow things down, Alston will have a tough decision as several other schools are recruiting him hard.

“I can’t think of my top schools at the top of my head but I will be narrowing it down soon once I sit down with my family and talk about it,” Alston said. “Some schools recruiting me hard are Michigan, Georgia Tech, UNC, Northwestern, Florida, Ohio State, Utah, Arizona State and Oregon.”
