Allen has a surreal feeling about his recent Florida Gators offer

The Florida Gators 2022 recruiting board has expanded greatly over the last month as the coaching staff has been offering a lot of prospects during the dead period.

2022 offensive lineman Jacob Allen (6-6, 270, Princeton, NJ. Hun School) was one of those guys recently offered by the Gators coaching staff.

“Coach [John] Hevesy offered me over FaceTime,” Allen said on the coach from Florida who offered him. “We had a great talk about the culture at Florida as well as what the day by day life is like.”

Allen has 12 offers already but getting an offer from an SEC program was something that was different for the lineman.

“It’s my first SEC offer so it just hits different,” he said on what the offer means to him. “Florida was always a power house team when I was growing up so having the opportunity to go there feels surreal.”

Offensive line coach John Hevesy explained to Allen just why the Gators like his game.

“Coach told me how he liked my sense of violence on the field,” Allen said on what Hevesy told him about what he likes about his game. “I feel like I would fit well in the spread offense as an offensive tackle because I like to protect the quarterback.”

Allen is just now getting to know Hevesy but he does know a few things about his coaching style and what he looks for in a lineman.

“I know he has major attention to detail which I respect deeply,” he said on what he knows about Hevesy’s coaching style. “I can tell he’s someone who gets the best out of his players everyday.”

The New Jersey native also knows a good bit about the Gators program in general and about the winning tradition in Gainesville.

“I know Florida has three national championships as well as eight SEC titles so winning is something they like to do, as do I,” Allen said on when he knows about Florida and Dan Mullen. “I don’t know much about Coach Mullen but I look forward to getting to know him and I know they run a spread which I’m a fan of.”

Now that Allen has an offer from Florida, the lineman plans to see what the Gators have to offer in person.

“I definitely plan on visiting Florida, I’m excited to get down to the Swamp,” he said on if he plans to visit Florida. “
