Alabama WR transfer Javon Baker likes Billy Napier

Billy Napier mentioned at his press conference on Friday that the Gators could be close to adding more transfers to the team soon and he hosted two big transfers this weekend.

Alabama receiver transfer Javon Baker (6-1, 196, Powder Springs, GA. McEachern) was on campus and liked spending time with Napier.

“Everything was good,” Baker said of his visit to Florida. “Coach Napier is starting something new and everything like that. Everything has always been straight on with Florida.”

Baker had the chance to meet new receivers coach Keary Colbert and he likes the coaches background on the field.

“I like everything,” he said on what he liked about Florida. “I liked the coaches; I like everybody here. I spent time with Coach [Billy] Napier and Coach [Keary] Colbert the most. I liked that Coach Colbert played in the NFL, I like that about a coach.”

The Alabama receiver has done his homework on Napier already and talked to several guys who have been coached by Napier in the past.

“Coach Napier coached at Alabama so all the players that I looked up to at Alabama and helped me with everything like Smittty [Devonta Smith], [Jaylen] Waddle and [John] Metchie they all knew Coach Napier so they gave me a heads up on what Coach Napier is like,” Baker said on what he knows about Napier. “They said the same thing, I like him as a coach.”

After this weekend, Baker says the Gators are high in his recruitment and a decision could be coming soon.

“Pretty high,” he said on his interest in Florida. “Right now I don’t have any other visits. I’m going to make a decision soon. I might enroll in the spring, I don’t know.”
