Addison recaps Florida Gators spring game visit

It was a busy spring in Gainesville for the Florida Gators coaching staff as they hosted prospects on a daily basis, and they ended that with an impressive spring game visitors list.

Offensive lineman Ziyare Addison (6-5, 290, Riverview, FL. Sumner High) was on campus for the spring game and had a chance to watch a few of his friends in the game.

“It was a good deal,” Addison said. “I went to the spring game, and I really enjoyed watching the guys that I’m connected with, Roderick Kearney and Gregory Smith. I was watching them, and I was able to connect with Coach Napier, Sale, and all of them again once again.”

Addison was on campus twice in one week as the lineman and his father watched the Gators practice before the spring game.

“Me and my dad were there the Thursday before and got the full experience,” he said of visiting Florida twice in one week. “I just wanted my baby sister, my mom, and my uncle to see everything and once they got there, they understood why I set up an official visit. Me and my dad had a good experience and we followed it up on Saturday and we just wanted the whole family to be on board.”

Head coach Billy Napier and offensive line coach Rob Sale explained to Addison that he’s wanted in Gainesville because of his ability to play multiple positions.

“Coach Napier and Coach Sale said there was no question about it, that I’m a top priority for them,” Addison said of the message from the coaches. “They love my versatility and my athleticism. I run the 100 meter in track and I’m one of the few linemen in the country that do that. The offensive line versatility they like because I play 1-5, they see me as a tackle but they like the flexibility I have.”

Addison didn’t have an official visit set to Florida before he visited for the spring game but the Gators impressed him enough to get one set.

“Me setting up an official visit there, really proved my point on my interest in the program,” he said on his interest in Florida. “It was a close call between Florida and another school to get my last official visit and they got it. Coach Sale said it was a priority that I took an official visit. It will be May 31st.”

The Gators have some tough competition for Addison as several other big programs are getting visits ahead of a summer decision.

“UCLA, Florida State, Penn State, Oregon, and Georgia,” Addison said on official visits set. “I’ll be making a decision in mid-August.”
