The Florida Gators picked up a big commitment on Tuesday when they flipped an instate prospect from an archrival.
Receiver Tawaski Abrams (5-11, 175, Fort Myers, FL. Dunbar) flipped his commitment from Florida State to Florida on Tuesday night.
Abrams visited Florida in June for an official visit and during that visit he noticed the resources that the Gators have outside of football.
“Just like the connections around the world they have,” he said on what opened his eyes about Florida. “Just seeing the job opportunities outside of football, getting to see the players how they communicate with the coaches. Just like the facility itself from recovery to actually playing being on the field.”
Receivers coach Billy Gonzales also explained to Abrams during that visit just how he would fit into the Gators’ offense.
“They could see myself on the field early because I’m going to be a December graduate,” Abrams said on how Florida plans to use him. “Getting to training camp, I will be accustomed to the playbook so it will be easier for me during the season.”
Abrams is the 21st commitment of the Class of 2024 for the Gators and joins receivers Jerrae Hawkins and Izaiah Williams as receivers in the class as quarterback commit DJ Lagway continues to add weapons on offense. In total the Gators now have commitments from Williams, Hawkins, Abrams, running back Kahnen Daniels and tight end Amir Jackson for the skill positions on offense.
