2021 NFL Draft: Evan McPherson selected No. 149 by Cincinnati Bengals

With the 149th pick in the 2021 NFL Draft, the Cincinnati Bengals selected place kicker Evan McPherson.

In three seasons with the Florida Gators, McPherson established himself as one of the best kickers in the country. He decided to forgo his senior season, and that ultimately paid off in the form of a fifth-round draft pick.

McPherson went 51-for-60 on career field goal attempts and missed just one extra-point in three years. With a career percentage of 85.0, he leaves as the SEC’s all-time leader.

Oddly enough, he made exactly 17 field goals in all three seasons at Florida. The 2020 season produced his lowest percentage, as he made 17-of-22 (77.2). He made a career-long 55-yard field goal against Ole Miss last season.

McPherson was a semifinalist for the Lou Grouza Award as a freshman and as a junior.

In McPherson, the Bengals are getting a kicker with accuracy and outstanding power in his leg.
