Offensive leaders

Junior Nicole DeWitt moved back into the two-hole in the lineup over the weekend and she had a great week of play. DeWitt had eight RBI’s and two home runs this week.

Freshman Jaimie Hoover continued to be a run producer for the Gators as she had six RBI’s this week. Hoover leads the Gators in that department and while her batting average isn’t as high as Walton wants it to be, her ability to hit with runners in scoring position is great.

Junior Kayli Kvistad continues to be the most feared hitter for the Gators this year. Kvistad had six RBI’s this week and scored four runs from the clean-up spot. The junior walked eight times in three games.

Pitching

Tim Walton and Florida Gators softball pitching coach Jennifer Rocha threw all four of the Gators pitchers again this past week.

Senior Delanie Gourley once again carried the Gators as the ace of the pitching staff. Gourley picked up two wins and combined with Aleshia Ocasio to throw a no-hitter on Sunday. Gourley threw 11 innings of scoreless ball while striking out 13 batters.

Sophomore Kelly Barnhill continued her great work this year and pitched just one game this weekend. Barnhill threw five innings and struck out nine batters and didn’t allow an earned run.

Junior Aleshia Ocasio had two appearances this weekend and didn’t allow a run in her four innings of work. Ocasio struck three batters and picked up a win.

Player of the week

Nicole DeWitt was the star for the Gators this weekend as she hit two home runs and drove in eight runs. DeWitt scored 10 runs and had six hits in four games this week.
