Offensive leaders
Freshman Jordan Roberts had her best week as Gator this week by going 6-10 at the plate in the 4 games this week. Roberts had two home runs and drove in 10 runs while scoring twice herself. Roberts now has six home runs this year.
Sophomore Nicole DeWitt continued her hot hitting at the plate this week and she cracked her fifth home run of the year. DeWitt had six RBI’s and scored six times from her second spot in the line-up.
Junior Kayli Kvistad continues to be the Gators most feared hitter at the plate and this week she added two more walks to her nation-leading walk total. Kvistad also hit a home run and drove five runs while scoring two runs herself.
Pitching
Tim Walton and Florida Gators softball pitching coach Jennifer Rocha threw all four of the Gators pitchers again this past week. Walton did, however, change up his weekend rotation and threw Kelly Barnhill on Friday and Sunday instead of Gourley who pitched on Saturday this week.
Sophomore Kelly Barnhill continues to be unhittable in the circle as she picked up two more wins this week. Barnhill struck out 16 batters in 12 innings pitched and only gave up one earned run this weekend.
Senior Delanie Gourley pitched five shutout innings against Arkansas to pick up her 12th win of the season. Gourley allowed just two hits and didn’t walk anyone.
Player of the week
Freshman Jordan Roberts earned this week’s honors by pushing her batting average up to .329 on the year and hitting two big home runs for Florida. Roberts is turning into the power hitter that the Gators have been missing since losing Lauren Haeger to graduation two years ago.
