Florida Gators soccer to host Mississippi

GAINESVILLE, Fla. - Southeastern Conference soccer action continues Friday when Florida plays host to the Mississippi Rebels. Match time is set for 7 p.m. at the James G. Pressly Stadium<http://www.gatorzone.com/facilities/jgpressly>. Admission is free for all Gator soccer regular-season matches.

When these two teams last met:
The two teams did not meet during the 2014 season. In the last meeting in Oxford in 2013, Florida scored on its first three shots (goals from Savannah Jordan<http://www.gatorzone.com/soccer/bios.php?year=2015&player_id=102>, Pamela Begić<http://www.gatorzone.com/soccer/bios.php?year=2015&player_id=106> and Claire Falknor<http://www.gatorzone.com/soccer/bios.php?year=2015&player_id=89>) to put the team up 3-0 after just 16 minutes of play. The Rebels' scored their only goal of the match in the 28th minute when Bethany Bunker scored off a long throw in. UF's Jillian Graff<http://www.gatorzone.com/soccer/bios.php?year=2014&player_id=81>'s goal in the final minute gave UF the final 4-1 win.

Florida leads the all-time series 18-2-1.

Gators' in Last Week's Action:
SEC action started September 10 when the top two teams in each of the last three league standings met at UF's Donald R. Dizney Stadium - No. 6 Texas A&M and No. 10 Florida. The Aggies scored a goal around the seven minute mark of each half to open a 2-0 lead. Junior Savannah Jordan<http://www.gatorzone.com/soccer/bios.php?year=2015&player_id=102> put in the long pass from freshman Mayra Pelayo<http://www.gatorzone.com/soccer/bios.php?year=2015&player_id=123> at the far post in the 77th minute, but the Gators couldn't find the equalizer.

Sunday, the Gators bounced back with a 4-0 win at Jacksonville. Sunday's match was the first start in goal for freshman Kaylan Marckese<http://www.gatorzone.com/guides/soccer/pages/season_info/player_bios/marckese_kaylan.php>, who stopped a late penalty kick to earn her first solo shutout.

With her scores in the last two matches, Jordan is now No. 6 on the Gators All-Time Points List (108 points off 48 goals and 12 assists).

About the Rebels:
The Rebels opened league play with a 4-2 home loss to Kentucky on Sept. 11. A seven-match home stand ended Sunday with a 2-1 win versus Louisville. Freshman CeCe Kizer leads Mississippi with seven goals and 14 points. That goal total ties for second with Florida's Jordan in the latest SEC standings.

Matthew Mott is in his sixth season as the head of the Rebel program.

Preseason Conference Votes:
Florida was second in the 2014 Southeastern Conference final standings with a 9-2 record. Mississippi tied for 10th in 2014 SEC action with a 3-4-4 record.
Florida - The Gators are picked to win the 2015 Southeastern Conference title.
Mississippi - The Rebels are picked to finish 10th in the SEC in 2015.
