VIDEO: McElwain and Nussmeier On Offense in Day 3

It’s going to be a long road for the Florida Gators offense; luckily they still have 12 more practices before displaying what they’ve learned in front of fans on April 11…albeit with a limited offensive line, but still enough to give Gator Nation a taste of what’s to come.

After three days of practice, head coach Jim McElwain and offensive coordinator Doug Nussmeier are starting to get a vein on their unit. Admittedly, there is still much to learn, but the basis of desire is there according to both men, and that’s what they like to say at this point.

The tempo has been noticeably faster for the Florida Gators, just in these few practices, and McElwain says it still needs to be a tad bit quicker. But the team had to deal with extra weight on Friday, literally. The first day in pads came on the hottest day yet of practice, but that didn’t deter the coaches excitement.

It was good to kind of hear some of the pads cracking a little bit, it was kind of fun”, said McElwain.

Now the Gators move ahead to their final practice of the week, before starting it all over again in week two.

McElwain and Nussmeier spoke to the media following Friday’s practice and gave updates on the team as a whole, the offensive unit and specific personnel groups within.
