True freshman Jafar Mann is no longer a part of the Florida Gators’ football team.
Second-year coach Will Muschamp said he met with lineman from Stone Mountain (Ga.) Stephenson on Sunday night.
“Jafar Mann and I met last night and he’s decided to transfer,” Muschamp said. “He and I agreed that it was time for him to move on.”
A consensus three-star prospect by national recruiting networks, Mann was ranked the No. 30 defensive tackle in the nation by ESPN. He reported nearly 20 scholarship offers and also was recruited by Auburn, Georgia and Tennessee, among others.
Mann has not played a snap this season and has not made any road trips. He was moved from defensive tackle to offensive guard late in fall camp in August.
Mann has gained attention off of the field, and for the wrong reasons. It usually was because of his Twitter account. One
