Hernandez Named US Army All-American

Bristol (CT) Bristol Central tight end Aaron Hernandez is the latest player to be announced for the Army All-American Bowl. At 6-4 and 235 pounds Hernandez is one of the best play making tight ends in recent recruiting history. The future Florida Gator is proud to be named to the east squad and is looking forward to the week in San Antonio in January.

Off to a 2-0 start this season with Central High School, Scout.com’s number one and five-star rated tight end has 285 receiving yards in two games. The always modest Hernandez is surprised and proud to be a part of such a prestigious event.

“To me it means the world because I never thought I would be in it as a kid,” Hernandez said. “I never thought that far ahead, I always thought I would have to work so hard all the time. My brother and I always watched the game on national television. Now that it is here it is a dream come true. I remember seeing Percy Harvin, Tim Tebow, and Xavier Lee. I just remember watching the big names from before.”

Florida has signed nine US Army All-Americans in the last two years. Hernandez is excited he will be joining the ranks of the nation’s elite high school players in Gainesville.

“I am going to be playing with great players and people that are known around the world,” he said. “Hopefully at the next level we can all be All-Americans.”

He is looking forward to a hectic January as he makes his way out to San Antonio for practice, the game, and the festivities. Then immediately after, it is off to start the next period in his life.

“I just want to meet new players and go against the great competition,” he said. “I will just take it day by day and soak in the experience. I go to Florida the day after the game.”

Aaron Hernandez is a role model for what the Army is looking for to participate in their event. He is a model student and respectful kid that is just one terrific football player. Congratulations are in order for Mr. Hernandez and the Florida Gators for landing a top notch prospect.
