ORLANDO – Florida’s two regional sports networks combine to offer passionate fans of Florida’s college football teams numerous opportunities to get the inside story on their favorite teams each week as Sun Sports and FSN Florida kick off a wide-ranging lineup of games, studio shows, on-site pre- and post-game coverage, coaches shows, specials and more.
An all-new Monday night show is being added to Sun Sports’ popular CHEVY TAILGATE SATURDAY lineup. TAILGATE OVERTIME PRESENTED BY BELLSOUTH will feature a panel of experts including former UF WR Chris Doering, former FSU FB William Floyd, and former UM QB Steve Walsh joining host Whit Watson, media members Mike Bianchi (Orlando Sentinel) and Todd Wright (The Sporting News) and Sun Sports’ contributors Brady Ackerman, Kristen Hewitt and Terry Norvelle. The one-hour live studio show, which premieres August 21, will be the perfect ending to the weekend with a full re-cap of all the big games in Florida and a preview of the next week’s games with opinion and analysis from local experts who cover and know the teams inside and out.
Ned Tate, Sun Sports & FSN Florida executive producer, says this fall’s lineup will be the best in recent years as CHEVY TAILGATE SATURDAY coverage stretches from Friday into Monday. “Between the kickoff show on Friday evenings, our live pre- and post-game coverage on Saturdays, our next-day game presentations on Sundays and our new live Monday night review show, our producers, talent and crew will combine to offer the most comprehensive and in-depth coverage focusing on Florida’s teams available anywhere,” says Tate. “Not just news and highlights, but the dig down deep analysis and stories that fans have come to expect from Sun Sports and Chevy Tailgate Saturday.”
Each weekend’s CHEVY TAILGATE SATURDAY coverage on Sun Sports starts Fridays at 7pm with REC WAREHOUSE COLLEGE KICKOFF, the network’s live studio show previewing all of Florida’s major football programs and providing insight and analysis. Immediately following the conclusion of all FSU & UF games, SEMINOLE & GATOR POSTGAME coverage begins, giving fans live on-site extended post-game coverage from outside the team locker rooms, press conferences and analysis from Sun Sports studios. Finally, fans can re-cap all the day’s action from around the state and the country with the new TAILGATE OVERTIME PRESENTED BY BELLSOUTH airing live Monday nights at 7pm.
Game coverage on Sun Sports features the long-time tradition of next-day replays of all Seminole and Gator games, produced by the network with Sun Sports’ Paul Kennedy (pxp), Keith Jones (analyst) and Tom Block (sideline) calling the action for Prime Time ‘Noles (Sundays, 7pm) and David Steele (pxp), Nat Moore (analyst) and Steve Babik (sideline) for “Breakfast with the Gators” (Sundays 8:30am).
FSN Florida will air a number of live Big 12 and Pac-10 games this season from FSN’s nationally distributed conference packages. The 2006 season kicks off on Saturday, Sept. 2 at 12 noon with the defending national champion Texas Longhorns at home in an intrastate match-up against the University of North Texas Eagles. Joel Myers has the play-by-play with analysis from Dave Lapham and sideline reports from Jim Knox. Pac-10 action begins on FSN Florida Sept. 30 at 10:15pm (teams TBA). FSN’s COLLEGE FOOTBALL SATURDAY KICKOFF airs most Saturdays, usually before the day’s first game, and offers comprehensive breakdowns of the day’s action, as well as previews, features, halftime updates and post-game wrap-ups. Entering its fifth season, the show is hosted by Mike Goldberg, with analysts Billy Ray Smith, Jr. and D’Marco Farr.
Sun Sports will also produce and air live pre-game coverage before the Florida State-Miami; Alabama-Florida; Boston College-Florida State; Florida-Georgia; Virginia Tech-Miami; South Carolina-Florida; and Florida-Florida State games.
