Florida tight end A.C. Leonard was arrested Wednesday night and charged with simple domestic battery, according to an arrest report obtained by the Gainesville Sun.
The sophomore was booked into the Alachua County Jail at 9:35 p.m. and was later released on his own recognizance Thursday morning. According to the police report, Leonard allegedly shoved a woman he lives with to the ground and she hit her head on a dog cage. The incident occurred after a verbal dispute between Leonard and the woman.
According to the report, Leonard told officers, “I never hit her. I just wanted her to leave.”
Leonard, who’s from Jacksonville, caught eight passes for 99 yards this past season. He’s the 10th Gators player arrested since Will Muschamp took over the program.
“Coach Muschamp is currently traveling and unavailable, but he will address the matter later today,” a UF spokesman said.
