Tyrek Tisdale recruiting for the Florida Gators

Last week at the Florida Gators Friday Night Lights camp the staff hosted several of their current commits on campus that helped recruit for the Gators.

One of those was athlete Tyrek Tisdale (6-0, 198, Orlando, FL Oak Ridge), who competed during the event and says he did it for the fans.

“I wanted to come out here and show the Florida fans what the commits can do,” Tisdale said. “We want to show them what they can look forward to from us. This was all for the fans and for us commits to bond more.”

Tisdale has been very vocal on social media about his love for the Florida Gators and he says he talks to three coaches from Florida a lot.

“I talk to the staff a lot actually,” he said. “I talk to Coach [Kerry] Dixon, Coach [Geoff] Collins and Coach [Jim McElwain] Mac every once in a while when he’s not busy. They just talk to me about Florida.”

Last month Tisdale made news on Twitter when he announced that he was going to enroll early at Florida and he says that was a decision he came up with after some lengthy conversations.

“After talking to my family and coaches they felt it was best for me to early enroll,” he said. “That was the decision that we came too, so yeah, I plan to early enroll in January.”

Tisdale has been talking to several different prospects about the Gators but he says that he isn’t pushing his message too hard on anyone.

“I try to do a lot of recruiting,” Tisdale said. “I do that because I see that all Florida fans want us to be back on top and that’s my goal. 2016, 2017 and 2018 I talk to them, but also make sure they’re comfortable with Florida. I don’t want to push anyone.”

The athlete commits says that he has a helping hand in recruiting for Florida and he says that they sell the family environment that they already have with one another.

“There are a lot of prospects that myself, Jake [Allen] and Chauncey [Gardner] are talking to,” Tisdale said. “There are a lot of players that say that Florida was a school they have wanted to go to since they were little so I tell them that they need to make sure that Florida is comfortable for them. We all just tell them about our bond with each other.”

Despite saying he’s a solid commit Tisdale says that he has set five official visits for this fall.

“Oregon State, Florida, Indiana, Pittsburgh and Rutgers are my official visits,” he said. “I’m solid to Florida though.”

INSIDERS TAKE: Tisdale remains solid in his pledge to Florida despite saying he plans to take other official visits.
