Out of state DE sets official visit to the Florida Gators

The Florida Gators football staff has had success getting prospects on campus ever since Jim McElwain has taken over as the head coach at Florida and that has continued into the season.

Now that Florida is into the season, prospects will be able to take official visits to Florida and defensive end Terrell Hall (6-5, 251, Washington D.C., St. John’s College High) has already set up an official to the see the Florida Gators football team in the coming weeks.

“I set up my official visit to Florida for the Tennessee weekend in a couple of weeks,” Hall said. “My mom is trying to make her plans so that she can come down on the official visit with me. She wants to see everything for herself.”

Defensive line coach Chris Rumph and linebackers coach Randy Shannon are leading the charge here and Rumph is excited to get Hall down for a visit.

“Coach Shannon and Coach Rumph both have been talking to me a lot from Florida,” he said. “Coach Rumph is basically just trying to get me down there so that I can see everything and meet everyone. He said that he doesn’t want to sell me dreams until I can get down there and see everything first hand for myself.”

Shannon has taken more of the role of telling Hall that he will be a good fit at Florida and exactly how the coaching staff could use him in their defense.

“Coach Shannon is telling me how I can fit into the defense at Florida,” Hall said. “He said that they run a lot of defensive styles so I can stand up and also be in a 3-point stance in the defense. He’s also trying to get me to see Florida as a whole to where I see the academic stand point too.”

When Hall does arrive in Gainesville in a couple of weeks, he has a few things he wants to see from the Gators.

“I’m just looking forward to seeing the environment, I know that Florida and Tennessee should be a good game to watch,” he said. “I want to see the game day environment and how I feel around the players and the vibe I get from them. I want to ask players some questions and then I want to see the academics.”

Before Hall gets to Florida he will visit another SEC school as a lot of schools are pushing for the one time Ohio State Buckeyes commit.

“I’m going to Alabama next week for a visit and then Florida,” Hall said. “I have a couple of schools that have been reaching out to me about officials but I haven’t set any other ones up. Right now Florida, Alabama, Florida State and Tennessee are all recruiting me hard.”

INSIDERS TAKE: Alabama is the school with the most buzz around Hall but the Florida visit will be a big one for the Gators. I think Chris Rumph has the opportunity to really get Hall looking at the Gators hard.
