Jefferson’s second home

2015 defensive end CeCe Jefferson is still a year away from making his college decision. Jefferson is yet to name a top three, top five, or even a top ten, but after Friday Night Lights he did tell Gator Country who his top school was.

“I would say that Florida is my top school right now, because this is really the only place that I visit. Basically, this is kind of home for me right now. Until I get out and see some other places,” Jefferson said. He admitted that he wants to take another trip to a school on the west coast, he’ll also go to camp at Florida State and is looking into visiting Alabama.

At FNL, he formed a bond with fellow defensive end, Byron Cowart. The two were paired together during the individual drills session. After camp formally ended, a group of linemen gathered around the south goalpost at Florida Field and did some more 1-on-1 drills. Cowart and Jefferson decimated their opposition in the drills, leaving beaten offensive lineman in their wake.

“I would love playing with Byron. We’re the same type of player, he’s fast off the ball, he uses his hands a lot, and he’s just a high intensity player with a high motor,” Jefferson said. “Me and him hit it off a little but, he’s a great player. I actually met him two days ago on Twitter, he was letting me know that he was going to be here and he really likes the school. He said we’ll meet up and talk at the camp. We hit it off, I really like him, he’s a good kid.”

When players get to their respective schools, they often end up being closest to their position coaches. Jefferson already holds Florida’s Brad Lawing in high regard.

“He’s different, he’s a great all-around coach. He breaks down what he’s trying to teach us step-by-step, so there’s no way you can leave without learning something with him,” Jefferson said.

He plans to visit Florida many times during the fall, even joking that he has a bed in Florida’s locker room.
