Jake Allen calls Friday Night Lights ‘Electric’

In recent years, the Gators annual Friday Night Light’s has been a bit of a let down. That changed last Friday for Jim McElwain’s second Friday Night Lights camp.

The Gators had a larger number of recruits participate in this year’s event and the coaches weren’t the only ones to recognize this. Long time Gator quarterback commit Jake Allen (6-3, 200 Fort Lauderdale, FL St. Thomas Aquinas) noticed the increased number of playmakers flying around The Swamp, “It was special, very electric,” Allen said, “So many studs out here running around.”

One particular uncommitted prospect that stuck out to Allen was receiver Jerry Jeudy (6-1 177 Pompano Beach, FL Deerfield Beach). “He’s special” Allen said, “anytime spent with Jeudy is definitely a good time.”

Jeudy recently made waves on the Internet with a juke move he made at Nike’s The Opening camp. He made another spectacular move on Friday night, causing the crowd’s jaws to drop and the players screamed in excitement. Allen was the quarterback on the play.

Allen’s biggest pitch to Jeudy is staying in the sunshine state. “Stay home,” Allen said with a smile on his face. He later added “Rep your state… come play in The Swamp.”

Allen is not only a recruit in the 2016 class, he is a recruiter.

Even though he still has a full calendar year left to suit up in the Orange and Blue, Allen’s preparing for another run in the playoffs as a senior in high school. His goal is to simply win a championship. “Yeah, mean win a state championship obviously and win a national title over Bishop Gorman. So that’s going to be the deciding factor so we have to take every game one game at a time but definitely win that game.”

When asked about how it feels going to a school like Saint Thomas and always having a target on your back, Allen replied, “You know, I know I have to go out and perform every game.”

Expect Allen to continue to recruit players to come to Florida up until national signing day.
