The Florida Gators landed its second commitment for the class of 2016 and the third of the night on Friday night when center Brett Heggie (6-4, 304, Mount Dora, FL High) committed to the Gators over Mississippi State and others.

Heggie is the 16th commitment in the class of 2016 and joined cornerback Quincy Lenton, who committed before camp started.

“I just felt most comfortable here at Florida,” Heggie said on why he committed to Florida. “Not only with the campus and the university but also with the coaching staff. Florida is a special place to be.”

The offensive lineman had been on Florida’s campus most of the day Friday before he told Florida Gators head coach Jim McElwain and offensive line coach Mike Summers the news, but they were very happy to gain a new offensive lineman commit.

“They were excited when I told them,” he said. “They both just stood up and did the Gator chomp with me when I told them.”

Heggie had talked about taking visits to Mississippi State and a few others this fall but he decided that Florida was the place he wanted to be.

“I’m very happy with my decision,” Heggie said. “It’s great to be a Florida Gator and I’m just excited to be a Gator. I’m going to work on recruiting some guys to Florida but right now I just want to let everything soak in a minute.”

Now that Heggie is committed to Florida he will be able to focus on his senior year and he says that he isn’t sure if he will take any visits other than to Florida.

Heggie joins offensive line commits Branton Autry and Stone Forsythe in the class of 2016.

INSIDERS TAKE: Heggie is a big kid that looks good in his body and he weighed in at 304-pounds today before his visit. Heggie isn’t likely to visit anyone else besides Florida and he’s very solid to the Gators.
