Gouraige loves the Florida Gators after FNL

Each year Friday Night Lights brings some top notch talent to the Swamp and that trend continued at this year’s event. Among the list of talented visitors was 2018 OL prospect Richard Gouraige (6’5, 250, Tampa, FL. Cambridge HS).

Friday Night Lights presented a great opportunity for Gouraige as it was the first time he got to work with offensive line coach Brad Davis.

“Yeah, that was my first time working with him,” Gouraige said. “It was great getting to learn from Coach Davis. He just taught me fundamentals and stuff like that, how to take on the bull rush. I mean, I just love coming out here and competing.”

The event provided Coach Davis and Gouraige to spend more time together and get to work together on the field. The two have a solid relationship and Friday Night Lights reinforced that.

“Yeah, it shows a lot, because I get to see him one-on-one, see what he’s talking about,” Gouraige said on if tonight reinforced his relationship with Coach Davis. “He can help me with my game even better and just go home and work on my game, really. He just helped me on fundamentals and technique and I really loved it, and just improved my game a little bit, getting better. It helped a lot coming out here and working with him.”

One word that comes to Gouraige when thinking about the Gators is the word loyal. Gouraige admires the loyalty that the Gators staff has shown him and his family.

“They’ve just been loyal to me,” he said. “They just always check up on how my family’s doing and stuff like that, keeping up with school and just stuff like that. I mean, I’m just building a better relationship with Coach Mac and Coach Davis.”

The highlight of the event for him was the individual drill period. Coach Davis worked with him on taking on the bull rush and that stood out to him.

“Doing individuals really stood out,” Gouraige said. “I mean, Coach Davis taught me how to take on the bull rush and stuff like that, so I can take that to school and every time somebody wants to bull rush me, I can just use what he taught me.”

Gouraige is uncertain about when he will make his decision and wants to make sure it is the right choice. However the love for Florida is there.

“I’m not really sure,” he said on when we can expect a decision. “I mean, I’m just really in love with Florida, so I just want to make the right decision. I feel good about Florida. I just really love everything they’ve been doing so far.”
