Gators in Francois’ top 5

UF opens spring practice on Wednesday and Kurt Roper and the Florida offense hope to show recruits that they have improved.

One player that will be watching that development closely is quarterback Deondre Francois (6-0, 182, Orlando, FL Olympia) who has the Gators in his top-5 along with two other SEC teams but he certainly is feeling the heat from the instate schools.

“Florida is in my top 5 right now with Florida State, Auburn, Ohio State and Tennessee,” Francois said. “I kind of feel the rivalry between those programs (Florida and FSU) in my recruitment already. Both schools have great programs and good coordinators.”

While Francois admits to having an early top-5 he says that one school is recruiting him harder than the other four.

“Florida right now is showing me the most love by far from the other schools,” Francois said. “They tell me that they love me and my arm strength and that I can fit perfect into Kurt Roper’s offense. They think very highly of me and I’m grateful for that.”

Hearing that he could be a perfect fit in the offensive system is nice but Francois really likes that Roper plans to speed things up in Gainesville.

“Hearing that Florida is going to an up-tempo offense is real appealing to me,” Francois said. “I think I fit well into that style of offense as well as the pro-style offense so it’s the best of both worlds.”

Now that he has decided on a list of top teams he will make trips this spring and is hopefully to make a decision this summer. He definitely knows what he’s looking for out of the school he ends up attending.

“My decision is going to come down to who makes me feel at home and comfortable,” Francois said. “Every school is going to have nice facilities and good coaching but it’s about where I’m at home at.”
