The Florida Gators recruiting class had most of its commits on campus last Saturday including safety commit Jeawon Taylor (6-2, 192, Montgomery, AL Park Crossing) who enjoyed the game and the atmosphere in the Swamp.
“It went good, it was a great atmosphere today,” Taylor said. “It was very sad that we didn’t come out on top but everything is going to be alright for Florida in the future.”
Taylor, who paid a lot of attention to how Florida Gators coach Geoff Collins ran the defense on Saturday, said that he liked how the crowd backed the defense during the game.
“I liked the atmosphere a lot and I liked the way the defense moves around,” he said. “I like how they swarm to the ball and just play fast. The crowd really got behind them and I can’t wait to get here and play in front of the crowd.”
After the game Taylor had the chance to sit down and talk with Florida Gators head coach Jim McElwain and Mac laid out a simple message for him.
“The coaches are telling me to come in and be ready to play my first year,” Taylor said. “Coach Mac said that he was happy that I was on campus on Saturday and that’s he very happy that I’m a Gator.”
Taylor also had the chance to talk with defensive backs coach Kirk Callahan and recruiting coordinator Drew Hughes while on campus.
“I talk to Coach Cal and Coach Drew the most from Florida,” he said. “They both tell me to come down to Florida and not act like a freshman and that I will play early at Florida. They said they need me to be ready.”
Despite Taylor being a solid Florida Gators recruiting commit, he still plans to take other visits to other schools.
“I’m going to take an official visit to Auburn and Florida,” he said. “I’m solid to Florida though and I don’t see that changing at all. I really like what they have going on down here.”
INSIDERS TAKE: Taylor is very solid to Florida and I don’t see that changing. Taylor has also gotten very close to Lamical Perine and the two of them are already talking about potentially rooming with each other.
