Davis impressed with the explosive offense

The Florida Gators only hosted three uncommitted prospects for Saturday’s blowout win against Eastern Michigan but those three prospects were big names and big targets.

The only offensive prospect of that bunch was receiver Ryan Davis (5-10, 161, St. Petersburg, FL Lakewood) who had another great visit and enjoyed finally seeing the offense in action.

“It was great, I had fun,” Davis said. “I got to meet with the coaches and hang out with the players a little bit and I got to see that explosive offense of Florida. The atmosphere was great, I mean it’s always great. Florida is always going to have a great atmosphere.”

After Davis had the chance to witness the Florida Gators offense in person he had the chance to sit down with Will Muschamp where the head coach had a simple question for him.

“Coach Muschamp said now that you got to see the offense, what are you going to do,” Davis said laughing. “I just laughed and told him we’ll see. Coach Muschamp is a cool dude.”

Muschamp may have wait to wait a little bit for the answer to that question but one thing is certain and that’s that Davis was blown away by Kurt Roper’s spread offense on Saturday.

“One thing I really loved was that they really spread the ball around,” Davis said. “They were trying to get the ball to players out in space and get the ball out in the slot. I really liked that everybody got the ball and was making plays. Treon [Harris] looked good.”

Over the past few months Davis and receiver coach Chris Leak have developed a great relationship and after the game Leak shared where he thought Davis could play in the offense with the elite receiver.

“Coach Leak was telling me after the game that, that could be me next year out in the slot,” Davis said. “Coach Leak told me to watch the slot a lot because that’s where he sees me playing and also moving around some too.”

After visiting Florida two weeks in a row, Davis says it’s about time that he sits down and gets close to a decision.

“Me and my dad are going to sit down and talk about my decision soon,” he said. “My decision is going to come real soon.”

A decision isn’t likely this week but Davis says that he’s going to take a break from Gainesville and he might take an official this week before returning to Florida in a few weeks.

“I might take an official to Maryland or somewhere this weekend but if not then I’m not sure who I’m going to visit,” Davis said. “I’m going to be back at Florida for the LSU game and then I’m going to take my official after the season because I can come up to any game I want since it’s close to home.”

INSIDER TAKE: Florida has a commanding lead for Davis based of the reaction I have gotten from him and people close to him. The way Davis talked a decision could come at any time but I think it could fairly soon.
