National Championship Celebration Set 1/13

GAINESVILLE, Fla. — The University of Florida will celebrate its second national championship in football on Saturday, Jan. 13, from Noon to 1 p.m. at Ben Hill Griffin Stadium. The event will air
live on Sun Sports and will replay on Sun Sports on Sunday (1 p.m.), Monday (6 p.m.) and Wednesday, (6:30 p.m.)

All stadium gates except 16, 17 and 18 will be open beginning at 10:30 a.m. Following the celebration, fans are encouraged to remain in the stadium to watch the video board telecast of the Gator men’s basketball game at South Carolina at 1 p.m.

Fans will be able to alleviate parking concerns by utilizing the commuter lot located on Gale Lemerand Drive, parking garage nine (located next to Shands), or the Oaks Mall South Parking Lot. Shuttles from these locations will begin at 10 a.m. and will be free.

The event will begin at Noon and will include comments from head coach Urban Meyer, as well as members of the national champion Gators. Highlight videos will be shown in addition to the BCS National Championship Game against Ohio State, which will air when gates open at 10:30 a.m.

The cheerleaders and Pride of the Sunshine Marching Band will both perform to help the Gators celebrate the second national title in school history.

The Gators captured the 2006 BCS National Championship with a 41-14 victory over No. 1 Ohio State on Monday, Jan. 8, in Glendale, Ariz.

Fans can purchase BCS National Championship merchandise at the Gator Sport Shop located in the North End Zone of the stadium. The Gator Sport Shop will open from 8 a.m. – 7 p.m. In addition, concession stands will be open during the event except in the South End Zone.

Prohibited Items

* Food/drink containers, bottles, cans, thermoses, ice bags, ice chests, any artificial noise making device, large cameras, flags, umbrellas, back packs, carry bags, video cameras/cases, strollers or any items deemed hazardous by game management personnel will not be allowed in the stadium. Law enforcement officials have the right to inspect any item at any time for the purpose of spectator safety.

* Prohibited items must be returned to vehicles or disposed of before entering the stadium. There are no provisions to check items at the gates.

* Alcoholic beverages are strictly prohibited.

* Chairbacks larger than a single seat are prohibited.
