Florida Gators basketball cruises past Charlotte

The Florida Gators basketball team (8-3) dominated the Charlotte 49ers (6-4) in every way possible on Saturday in an 87-46 win. Florida took a big lead in the first half of play and would never come close to relinquishing it. Florida led by 26 at the half and led by as many as 44 late in the game.

Canyon Barry led the Gators with 16 points. Nine of those points came from free-throws. Robinson was just behind with 15 points. He was 5-for-6 from the field and put up a team-leading nine rebounds for the Gators. Keith Stone was also in double-digits with 10 points.

With John Egbunu out with a hamstring injury, Kevarrius Hayes stepped in to take his place. Hayes held his own with nine points and five boards. Kasey Hill led the team with five assists on the night.

Florida held Charlotte’s biggest offensive threat, Jon Davis, who came in averaging 20.2 points per game, to just nine points. All of his points were scored in the second half, when the game was long over. The Gators forced 20 turnovers and had 44 total rebounds.

Overall, this was one of Florida’s most complete performances this season and puts the team in a good place as it heads back home.
