VIDEO: Florida Gators Face Super Regionals Rivalry

Anytime a team faces their arch rival, whether on the field or the diamond or the four-square court, there’s a level of tension that is absent in other games. A passion that toes the line between love and hate since both are so prevalent during these matches. Thus is the beauty of rivalry games.

When a team is lacing up for a NCAA super regional (their first in 2 seasons after a string of appearances) a sense of anticipation hangs in the air & is kicked up with the chalk after every slap of a cleat on a base line. At this point, every game is the most important game, because without it, the dream ends. Talk about pressure.

Now combine the two.

That’s a math problem even a kindergartner could do. Because the answer is simple. When combined, it makes for a weekend no sports fan will want to miss. It makes for a series that sold out in less than 20 minutes on both sides and makes for a game that promises to be full of fireworks.

Thats exactly what Gators fans have on their plate for a full weekend of baseball.

The Florida Gators will take on the Florida State Seminoles in the Gainesville Super Regional this weekend with a trip to the College World Series on the line.

Despite being sold out, if standing room becomes available, then tickets will be sold beginning at 8:30 on Friday morning.

Game 1 & 2 will be broadcast on ESPN2 at 7:30 and 5pm with Logan Shore and A.J. Puk getting the start for the Gators respectively. Game 3, if necessary, will be played at 6 or 7 on Sunday.

Event parking is available in the commuter lot on Gale Lemerand Drive, Stephen C. O’Connell Center Lot and Garage, Percy Beard Track, Flavet Field and Fraternity Row on a first-come, first-serve basis.

The parking on Flavet Field for baseball fans will open at 5 p.m. on Friday, 3 p.m. on Saturday and then at 4 p.m. on Sunday if necessary.

There will also be a free parking shuttle that will deliver fans to all of the action each day. Fans are strongly encouraged to use the parking shuttles to reach their destination because of the high volume of traffic resulting from high school graduations taking place at the O’Connell Center
