University of Florida player Matt LaPorta was the 7th overall selection by the Milwaukee Brewers in the 2007 Major League Baseball Draft. LaPorta is the second highest selection overall by a Florida player. John Burke was selected sixth by the Houston Astros in 1991.
LaPorta was drafted in the 14th round last season by the Boston Red Sox. There is a possibility that LaPorta might be asked to move to left field because of the Brewers infield depth. Matt will be a special guest on the Gator Country Radio Show tomorrow morning.
