Opening Preview: Team Mach Speed

Nike has been rolling its camps around the country since early March and it will all come to end in Beaverton, Oregon on July 7th at Nike Headquarters.

The elite-of-the-elite prospects from the Class of 2015 and a handful of 2016 prospects will participate in the Sparq Challenge as well as be divided into teams to participate in a 7-on-7 tournament as well as the linemen challenge.

Among the prospects attending the events are a number of Florida targets as well as three Gator commits.

In the days leading forward Gator Country will break down each team and give you a preview of who to watch on that team as we prepare for the Opening.

Each team will draft three quarterbacks once they are in Oregon to go along with the players already designated to their team.

We’ve taken a look at four of the six teams in attendance and Sunday’s preview will be for Team Mach Speed.

Mach Speed doesn’t have a Florida commit on its team but it has several top Florida targets that could land in the orange and blue.

At receiver, Mach Speed has Tennessee receiver commit Preston Williams on the team. While Williams is a long shot for Florida he has visited in the past. Williams will be teamed up with former Gators commit Da’Vante Phillips at receiver. I believe Phillips is likely to follow his former high school teammate Dalvin Cook to Florida State.

One of the Gators top targets at tight end is on Team Mach Speed and that’s Auden Tate of Wharton High School. Tate likes Florida a lot but right now FSU has the lead for him in my opinion.

Top linebacker target Adonis Thomas will man the middle of the defense for Mach Speed. Thomas is looking to commit on August 1st and the Gators have a sizable lead here.

Playing the athlete position for Mach Speed will be Gator running back target Ray-Ray McCloud who will visit Florida for Friday Night Lights as Florida continues to battle Clemson for him.

Jalen Tabor’s former teammate Quarvez Boulware is an offensive lineman for Mach Speed and Boulware is looking to visit Gainesville this summer for Friday Night Lights.
