The Florida Gators welcome the Mean Green of North Texas to Gainesville this week. North Texas head coach Seth Littrell talked to the media on Wednesday over a teleconference. Gator Country brings you a notebook of what he said here.
- This is Seth Littrell’s first season as head football coach at North Texas.
- He and the rest of the North Texas coaching staff only had about three weeks to recruit their own players for 2016.
- Freshman quarterback, Mason Fine will start against the Gators on Saturday.
- Littrell is not worried about the freshman quarterback handling pressure of playing in The Swamp, he said he is a big competitor with a lot of confidence. “He understands he doesn’t have to be perfect,” said Littrell.
- “I’ve always dreamed of going and playing a quality opponent like Florida,” he said.
- Littrell played for Coach Bob Stoops at Oklahoma, Stoops is his mentor.
- He said he hasn’t watched a lot of games this season, but he is willing to bet Florida’s defense is one of the best in the country.
- He has enjoyed watching Jarrad Davis play, he said he has great hips and will snap your head back.
- Littrell said Luke Del Rio managed the game against Kentucky.
- North Texas just wants to go out and compete against Florida. They are more worried about doing their jobs and getting their assignments right.
