Kadarius Toney commits to Florida Gators

The Florida Gators picked up commitment number five on Wednesday when athlete Kadarius Toney (6-0, 175, Prichard, AL Blount) made the call to the Gators after speaking with running backs coach Tim Skipper on Wednesday night.

“I decided to commit to Florida because Coach Skipper made me feel like a priority,” Toney said. “I had seen some stuff on the internet about other teams, so I finally got to really know where I was on other team’s boards. Florida has always been my No. 1 school and my head coach recommended Florida to me, so I decided to go ahead and commit.”

Toney made the call to head coach Jim McElwain, who was very happy to hear the news of the commitment.

“I called Coach Mac first and he was real happy when I told him,” he said. “He was just very excited and he said he was speechless. I called Coach Skipper after that and he was real happy when I told him.”

Running backs coach Tim Skipper has quickly become one of the Gators top recruiters and he made Toney feel important to the Gators.

“Coach Skipper made me feel real special, he was telling me that I was someone that they had to have,” Toney said. “He was just talking about how I would fit in at Florida and I noticed that I would be a good fit there. I can play a lot of positions for them and play wildcat quarterback.”

Toney, who plays quarterback in high school, is electric with the ball in his hands and Skipper told him that they would use him everywhere.

“I think I can fit in anywhere they put me honestly,” he said. “I can line up anywhere on offense and Coach Skipper said they would have a wildcat package for me too.”

The Alabama athlete hasn’t visited Gainesville yet, but he will do that this month.

“I’m planning on visiting on May 28th for a visit,” Toney said. “I’m going to meet Coach Mac and see the campus and meet everyone. I’m looking forward to it. “

INSIDERS TAKE: Toney is a guy that can play anywhere on the field, as he’s guy with really good speed and quickness. Toney is a guy that you simply want to get the ball in his hands and that’s the plan that Florida has given to him.
