Jeudy planning an official visit to Florida Gators

The Florida Gators are on the verge of going to their second straight SEC championship game under Jim McElwain and prospects are starting to take notice of this.

One of those guys is Alabama receiver commit Jerry Jeudy (6-1, 177, Pompano Beach, FL. Deerfield Beach), who received a visit at his school from receiver’s coach Kerry Dixon a few weeks ago.

Jeudy’s high school coach Jevon Glenn talked to Gator Country about that visit, plus the latest on the receiver’s recruitment.

“Coach Dixon came by during their bye week to see him,” Deerfield coach Jevon Glenn said. “Florida is still talking to him a lot and he’s going to take an official visit over there. They’ve been on him hard even though he’s committed. Things haven’t really dropped off from them at all, they’re recruiting him hard.”

Dixon has really tried to sell early playing to Jeudy and the coach says his receiver is listening to that.

“[Coach] Dixon has been telling him that he can come in and contribute right away,” he said of Florida’s message to Jeudy. “He says that they really don’t have any receivers like him on the team. Florida is high on him and they’ve let him know that they’re going to recruit him until the end.”

Jeudy doesn’t talk a lot but he shown Florida that he’s interested in them and his coach thinks the Gators are moving up in the receiver’s mind.

“He says that he’s still interested in Florida, they’ve done a good job of recruiting him,” Glenn said. “They were making up a lot of ground on him before he committed and it shows a lot that they’re continuing to recruit him. They’ve continued to make up ground and they’ve made an impression on him.”

The Gators last hosted Jeudy on campus back in July but his coach says that the receiver plans to return to Gainesville soon.

“He will take an official visit there in December, I don’t know the weekend,” he said of Jeudy’s official visit. “He’s going to take one to Alabama too and he may visit Georgia but he’s only for sure visiting Florida and Alabama. He won’t do all five.”

The Alabama commit doesn’t have a lot of time left in recruitment due to him early enrolling so the Gators must work quickly on Jeudy.

“He’s on track to early enroll in January,” Glenn said. “He will make his final decision after he takes all of his official visits because there will be nothing else to compare after that.”

INSIDERS TAKE: Glenn said that Jeudy may visit Florida for the South Carolina game in two weeks but at this time wasn’t 100 percent on Jeudy’s plans.
