Hill has the Florida Gators among his top schools

The Florida Gators had a big group of prospects in the south endzone of the Swamp on Saturday to see them beat Tennessee.

One of those guys in attendance was offensive lineman Trey Hill (6-3, 346, Warner Robins, GA. Houston County) who enjoyed his visit in Gainesville.

“It was great,” Hill said of his visit to Florida. “It was an exciting game, I came down here to see what Florida had going on. This was my second game down here, it was great to come down.”

Hill who last visited Florida for a game last year said he enjoyed how the Gator fans reacted to Tyrie Cleveland’s touchdown.

“That was great,” he said of the atmosphere on Saturday. “On that last catch, the crowd went wild and the stadium was moving. Everything was pretty loud.”

It has seemed like the Gators were on the outside looking in for Hill but he said he had a reason he wanted to visit Florida on Saturday.

“Just because I haven’t been down here in awhile,” Hill said on why he visited. “This was a good game to go to and I mean it was at Florida so I wanted to come down here and check out Coach [Brad] Davis and how he does.

The Gators offensive line has been a topic of concern over the last few years but Hill believes that they’re close to being a good unit.

“I think they need a little help or what not,” he said on Florida’s offensive line. “Overall they did what they had to do to pull out the win but they could use a little help.

Hill also doesn’t see the Gators needing help as a bad sign as the big time offensive lineman is looking to play early.

“I can come in and help wherever coach wants to put me,” Hill said on if sees a chance to play early. “If I come here, I’ll be able to play whatever position they put me at. I want to be able to play early wherever I go.”

After the game on Saturday, Hill got the chance to talk head coach Jim McElwain and he explained how big of a need he is for the Gators.

“I talked to Coach McElwain and to Coach Davis,” he said on the coaches he spoke to. “Coach Mac told me that I’m a big priority to them and they want me to come here. He said that they really want me here.”

Offensive line coach Brad Davis has also made a big impression on Hill by continuing to communicate with him.

“Coach Davis basically said the same thing and I remember him coming to my school in the spring,” Hill said of Davis’ message. “They stay consistent with their message to me. I like the family vibe he has.”

Hill is one of the prospects who doesn’t name leaders or favorites but he admitted that Florida made a move up for him.

“Florida is pretty up there with me,” he said. “They would be considered one of my top schools.”

INSIDERS TAKE: Hill doesn’t name a leader but did say that Florida, Florida State, Auburn, Clemson and Ohio State were all talking to him a lot. Hill plans to early enroll and wants to decide in December.
