Green preparing to play early for the Florida Gators

Almost all of the Florida Gators commits for the class of 2017 were on hand in the Swamp last Saturday when the Gators defeated the South Carolina Gamecocks.

Receiver Daquon Green (6-1, 185, Tampa, FL. Tech) was one of those commits in the stands and it was a different vibe for him this time.

“The atmosphere was great, every time I come they get more love for me,” Green said on what was different about Saturday’s visit. “The fans are starting to respect you more because they know you’re coming on campus. They know once 2017 comes things are going to starting changing.”

Green wanted to the see the Gators offense improve and he witnessed that, plus noticed some young receivers playing.

“I liked how the game was played, the offense played at a fast pace,” he said. “It’s letting me that I can play for sure [when asked what he likes about the young guys playing]. I know I can play early.”

Receivers coach Kerry Dixon is the main recruiter of Green and his message is very simple and to the point to the receiver.

“Coach Dixon says he’s ready for me to graduate and get here so I can make a statement,” Green said. ‘I talk to him, Coach [Chris] Rumph and Coach Nuss [Doug Nussmeier], they all say pretty much the same thing. They’re just ready for me to get here.”

Heading into next year Green isn’t worried about the quarterback play for Florida as he believes in two guys.

“In my opinion, I think Feleipe [Franks] should play some,” he said on his thoughts on the offense. “It’s something that I’m watching though and then coming in we’re going to have Jake [Allen] with us.”

Since Green committed to Florida two summers ago he has remained solid but he would still like to enjoy the process of taking visits.

“No other schools are still talking to me because I’m solid to Florida,” Green said. “I’m still thinking about visiting some other schools, though. I want to visit Ole Miss, Michigan, Tennessee, North Carolina and here. They will be after the All-American stuff is over.”

INSIDERS TAKE: Green is very solid to Florida has been that way since he committed two summers ago. Green is having a solid year with over 500 yards receiving for his high school team.
