Florida offers Andrew Mike but will he visit?

Florida has struggled mightily on the offensive line the last few years and Will Muschamp and the Florida coaching staff is determined to improve that position. Last week the coaching staff offered offensive lineman Andrew Mike (6-7, 270, Tucson, AZ Sabino) who spoke with Will Muschamp.

“It has been a crazy last few days for me with getting the Florida offer,” Mike said. “I called Coach (Coleman) Hutzler the other day and he put Coach (Will) Muschamp on the phone for me. Coach Muschamp said that he got to watch my tape and he really liked how I moved and that he thought I would fit really well into their program at Florida and he was offering me. He asked if I had enough interest in the school to come out for a visit.”

Mike recently narrowed his list down to a top three but he answered Will Muschamp’s question with a yes. He will be making his final decision fairly soon.

“I told him yes I want to visit and I will visit Florida on January 24th,” Mike said. “I have a top three of Washington, Arizona and Vanderbilt but I’m still doing research on Florida so they could move up for me. I want to make a decision earlier than signing day if possible.

The distance from Tucson to Gainesville is a long cross country flight but according to Mike his family wants him to experience things outside of Arizona.

“Florida would put me far away from home but that’s okay,” Mike said. “My parents want me to get out and experience things outside of Tucson so I can see different things and different atmospheres.”

When Mike ultimately chooses a school he knows the three main factors that he will be looking for.

“I want to find a school that has good academics because I want to major in pre-med,” Mike said of his decision factors. “Someday football is going to end and I want to be able to do something I love other than football, also somewhere that I feel at home and like the atmosphere at. The last factor is somewhere that I will be proud to wear their jersey on Saturday’s.”

Arkansas will receive an official visit from Mike on January 17th.
