What is Florida getting in Chris Williamson

The Florida Gators picked up a big commitment on Monday night when athlete Chris Williamson (6-0, 185, Gainesville, GA High) committed to Florida over Michigan and Georgia.

Williamson, who just popped onto everyone’s radar the last month and a half, is a relatively unknown prospect to most Florida Gators recruiting fans.

Well, no sweat as Gator Country.com has you covered as we spoke to Williamson’s coach Bruce Miller about what kind of player and person the Gators are getting in Williamson.

A quick tidbit on Miller is that he actually coached defensive coordinator Geoff Collins in high school.

Here’s our Q&A with Coach Miller:

Q.)What kind of an athlete is Williamson?

A.) “He’s a great player on and off the field. He had an excellent year for us a defensive back and as a receiver this year. He played about 120 snaps a game. He just did a great job for us all year long. Just right at the end of his season he kind of blew up as a recruit and he’s been all over the place.”

Q.) Better fit on offense or defensive side of the ball?

A.) “I don’t think it matters, honestly. I think it’s wherever he signs need him the most. He can play both sides of the ball extremely well and I’m confident he can continue that in college.”

Q.) What are his strengths as a player?

A.) “He great speed for a player his size. The biggest thing is that he’s very smooth as a receiver or as a defensive back. His size and strength is good too. He’s 6-foot and about 190 and he’s well put together as an athlete.”

Q.) How is Williamson off the field?

A.) “Number he’s a great student in the classroom. Number 2 he’s just a great kid. You can talk to him about stuff, he’s not extremely quiet kid but he’s not an extremely talkative kid either. He handles himself real well in public.”

Q.) Is Williamson a leader in the locker room?

A.) Yes he’s very much so a leader in the locker room. He keeps everyone in line and he leads by his actions too. He’s a very coachable guy that listens to his coaches a lot.”
