Florida Gators visit a Miami commit

While the Florida Gators administration is searching for a head football the current assistant coaches are out recruiting trying to salvage the Class of 2015 for whomever takes over the job.

On Wednesday offensive line coach Mike Summers visited Miami offensive line commit Tyree St. Louis (6-5, 300, Bradenton, FL IMG Academy) at his high school.

“It went great, Coach Summers and I had a good talk and it was nice to see him,” St. Louis said. “Coach Summers talked about the situation with the coaches and he said he believes his position will be safe and he hopes they get a good new head coach soon so they get things rolling.”

The Gators are very short on offensive linemen due to departures to the NFL and injuries and that has led Florida to trying to add more depth through recruiting this year and that was a message Summers told St. Louis on Wednesday.

“Coach Summers said they are going to more guys than they thought they were going too at first,” St. Louis said. “He said he wants me to be apart of the offensive line in the future at Florida and he made that very clear to me by saying that I could help them out a lot.”

St. Louis was scheduled to visit Florida for the South Carolina game but something came up and he didn’t make it but he says that he’s trying to do so now.

“Coach Summers said he wants me to get up to Gainesville to visit with him and the head coach after everything gets settled,” St. Louis said. “I may or may not take an official to them but I will definitely visit them.”

With the head coach up in the air and Summers job status up in the air St. Louis says he’s still interested in Florida.

“I’m interested in Florida no matter what happens with the coaching staff,” St. Louis said. “They need tackles and that’s what they want me at.”

INSIDERS TAKE: St. Louis isn’t very solid to Miami and I think if Florida starts pushing for him then they have a great shot at flipping him. St. Louis sees the depth chart is bare on the line and that’s a big plus for Florida.
