Florida Gators recruiting visitors list for Orange and Blue game

Friday is a huge day for the Florida Gators recruiting department, as a lot of prospects will be in town for the Orange and Blue game on Friday night in the Swamp.

Jim McElwain and his staff changed the spring game to a Friday night to help create a better atmosphere for recruiting and this year’s visitors list is a good one.

Including in that list are three current Florida commits and several top targets in not only the 2018 class but the 2019 and 2020 classes.

Gator Country brings you a preview of Friday night’s visitors’ list.

Commits coming to town

Florida will have two of its three 2018 commits in town, plus one of its three 2019 commits.

2018 defensive back commits C.J. Smith and Divaad Wilson are both expected to visit Florida. For Smith, this will be his third time on campus this spring and this will be Wilson’s first visit to Gainesville despite already committing to the Gators.

2019 defensive tackle Jaquaze Sorrells has become a regular visitor to Florida and he’s expected to be in the Swamp on Friday night.

2018 prospects visiting

Several of the Gators top targets in the 2018 class are scheduled to visit on Friday and that is headlined by receiver Jacob Copeland who is one of the top prospects in the state. McElwain has been personally recruiting Copeland with new area recruiter Tim Skipper.

Offensive linemen John Campbell and Richard Gouraige are also expected to visit for the second time this spring. Gouraige and Campbell both have high interest in Florida but the Gators are looking to close the deal on both. Gouriage is also high on Clemson right now.

Linebacker Dax Hollifield (6-1, 220, Shelby, NC. High) is making his first visit to Florida and he’s been in constant communication with linebackers coach Tim Skipper.

Instate corners Jordan Miner and Tyreke Johnson are also expected in town on Friday and this will be Johnson’s second visit to the spring. Miner hasn’t visited Florida since last summer but he’s someone that talks highly of Florida.

Safeties Sevyn Banks and Trey Dean are two guys who have visited Florida a lot in the past with Banks being the younger brother of current Gators safety Marcell Harris. Dean is related to former Gators safety Ahmad Black.

Two instate speedsters at receiver are among those expected on campus this weekend. Receiver Anthony Schwartz who just recently ran a 10.15 100 meters and receiver Dominick Watt say they will be in town on Friday.

The following guys are also expected to be in town on Friday for the 2018 class.

Running back Lyn-J Dixon (5-10, 185, Butler, GA. Taylor County)

Tight end Jarrett Jackson

Offensive lineman Jalen Goss (6-7, 255, Valdosta, GA. Lowndes)

Defensive back Trent Gordon (5-11, 172, Manvel, TX. High)

Linebacker Andrew Johnson (6-4, 235, Tifton, GA. Tift County)

Underclassmen visiting

Joining the 2018 targets on Friday will be several big name 2019 and 2020 prospects who the Gators are looking to get ahead start on.

2019 receiver John Dunmore (6-3, 170, Fort Lauderdale, FL. American Heritage Delray) recently picked up an offer and has Florida in the lead heading into his first visit to the Swamp.

2019 offensive lineman Dontae Lucas (6-3, 323, Miami, FL. Booker T.) recently picked up an offer from Florida says he will be in town on Friday.

2019 defensive end Derick Hunter (6-5, 245, Fort Myers, FL. Dunbar) and 2019 receiver Ramel Keyton (6-2, 180, Marietta, GA. High) both have offers heading into their visits.

2020 quarterback Harrison Bailey has been a frequent visit to Florida already in his recruitment and has an early Gators offer.

2019 defensive tackle Antonio Alfano (6-5, 255, Rahway, NJ. Bergen Catholic) is making the long distance trip to visit Florida this weekend as well.
