Florida Gators recruiting class gets commitment No. 14

The Florida Gators recruiting class picked up its 14th commitment for the class of 2017 on Saturday night when defensive tackle Kyree Campbell (6-4, 320, Woodbridge, VA. Wyoming Seminary Upper School) committed to Florida.

“I’m thankful for the schools that have recruited me but today I decided to be a Gator for life,” Campbell said.

Campbell who is in prep school this year is currently on an official visit to Florida this weekend.

Last season Campbell committed to North Carolina over offers from Ohio State, Notre Dame, Penn State, Florida State, Alabama and others.

The defensive tackle fills a major hole for the Gators in this class after JUCO defensive tackle Javier Edwards left the class earlier this week.

Not only does Campbell fill a gap but also he’s also a year older and will be able to play next year and still have four years of eligibility remaining.

Campbell is an early enrollee so will be able to enroll at Florida in January and be able to go through spring football this coming spring.

The Gators are still likely to take 1-2 more defensive tackles as the position is in need of depth for the class of 2017.

Gator Country will continue to update this story after we speak to Campbell when he leaves his official visit on Sunday afternoon.
