Florida Gators fans impress Davis despite the rain

Receiver Ryan Davis (5-10, 161, St. Petersburg, FL Lakewood) was one of many top prospects that were on campus for what was supposed to be the Florida Gators season opener Saturday night.

While Davis and the rest of the prospects didn’t get to see a game they did get a lot of time to talk to each other.

“I was just hanging with the guys,” Davis said. “Guys like Byron [Cowart], Saivion [Smith] and Jeff Holland we were just chilling and hanging out in the Gator room. We were really everywhere last night like the weight room and the field.”

Many people have noted how well the crowd stuck around throughout the delay and that’s something that didn’t go unnoticed to prospects like Davis who to note of the support.

“Even though there wasn’t a game the environment was great,” Davis said. “It felt like a game was going on and it was fun, I had fun. All of the prospects had fun because the fans were showing their loyalty to the team and they were showing me love everywhere.”

After the game was cancelled Will Muschamp and his coaching staff had the chance to thank the prospects for sticking around and Davis had a nice sit down talk with Muschamp about recruiting as well.

“I talked to Coach Muschamp, Coach Kurt [Roper], Coach T-Rob, Coach [Chris] Leak and Coach B-White,” Davis said. “Coach Muschamp and I had a long talk, just talking about where the program is going and how I’m going to see the offense be better and that he’s going to show it in the game next week.”

The rain didn’t start until the Florida Gators were almost finished with warm-ups and during that time Davis got to interact with some of the coaches on the field.

“During the warm-ups I was hanging out and talking with Coach Roper and Coach Leak,” Davis said. “Me and Coach Leak’s relationship is getting stronger and he’s my actual position coach so that’s good. He’s a coach that I talk to a lot.”

One of the main reasons Davis and his father attended last night’s game was to see the offense and since they didn’t get to see it against Idaho, they now have plans to return to the Swamp next Saturday when the Florida Gators take on Eastern Michigan.

“I’m going back next Saturday because I want to see a game and see them play,” Davis said. “After that it’s going to be a little minute before I get back up there, probably the LSU game before I go back up there.”

Davis has said in the past that he wants to make a decision this fall and he says that in a few weeks he will sit down with his family to set a timetable for that decision.

“I’m not sure yet on a decision but me and my dad are going to have that talk soon,” Davis said. “We are going to wait one or two more games into the season before we sit down and have that talk about when a decision is coming.”

One thing that the Florida Gators have going their way is that not only does Davis like Florida but his father does as well.

“My dad loves it at Florida,” Davis said. “He likes it a lot.”

INSIDERS TAKE: Davis loves Florida and he really likes Will Muschamp and Chris Leak. I really think Leak has put Florida on top here but I think that seeing the offense in person against another team is very important for Davis. In my opinion, this a guy that fits Will Muschamp’s team perfectly because he’s a good player and good person.
