Corral says UF is where he wants to be: Florida Gators recruiting

Saturday was a big moment for the Florida Gators recruiting class as quarterback commit Matt Corral (6-2, 196, Long Beach, CA. Poly) made his first visit to Gainesville since he committed.

This visit was a different one for him and an eye opening experience as Corral was able to see a game in the Swamp.

“It was my first game in the SEC, so it was different than what I’m used to,” Corral said on his first game visiting Florida. “It was crazy. A lot of people and it was loud. The fans just showed a lot of love and support. Even when they were down, they were still going crazy. I liked it. I liked it a lot.

Corral and the other recruits sit field level and he was able to vision himself on the field in the Swamp during Saturday’s game.

“That’s exactly what I was doing. I had that view,” he said on if he can see himself playing at Florida. “When were on the floor and they were backed up in the red zone. You could see how fast those holes close, regardless of whether it was running or windows to throw the ball. It’s either now or never. That’s just something I’ll have to get used to for the next level, just how fast the pace goes. People say the game speeds up, but you’re also not as intelligent on the next level. So my game plan is just to be ready mentally.”

Saturday’s visit was also a visit Corral wanted to take to make sure Florida was the place for him and he got his answer.

“I wanted to know I made the right decision, and I feel like I did,” he said on why he visited this weekend.

While on campus on Saturday, Corral had the chance to meet with several commits and targets and they’re already bonding together.

“It was good. All the recruits are like family,” Corral said on spending with the commits. “It’s a good time. When I come out here, it’s all smiles. Nobody really pushes me to come here. Everyone is really supportive of me and whatever I do.

Over the last few weeks rumors have circulated that Corral wanted to visit LSU but he says that was just a rumor.

“I don’t know how that LSU visit came up. I’m not visiting LSU,” Corral said on if he will take a visit to LSU. “I don’t know why Rivals put that out.

Another concern over the last few weeks was Corral removing Florida commit from his Twitter bio but he says that fans shouldn’t worry about that.

“I don’t know why people freaked out about that,” he said on his Twitter bio being changed. “This is where I want to be and this is where I’ll be in December.”

INSIDERS TAKE: Corral is telling Florida everything is good and telling commits and recruits the same so it seems as if Corral is solid to the Gators. Corral spent a lot of time recruiting Richard Gouraige and others on Saturday.
