Conliffe commits to the Florida Gators recruiting class

The Florida Gators recruiting class picked up its fourth commitment in the last four days on Tuesday afternoon.

Defensive tackle Elijah Conliffe (6-4, 305, Hampton, VA. High) committed to Florida over Tennessee, Penn State and Louisville at his school this afternoon.

“Swamp17,” Conliffe said.

Conliffe officially visited the Gators two weekends ago with his mother and following that visit Florida has seemed like the pick.

Since this was the only visit to Florida, the Gators had to work fast on Conliffe and his mom and the coaches’ staff answered all of his mom’s questions.

“I liked everything down there, I got to see a lot of things that they had to offer,” Conliffe said on if he got to see everything he needed to see. “My mom got to see everything too and she got to meet all of the coaches. She liked it and she liked how informative the coaches were with her.”

One of the biggest reasons Conliffe liked the Gators was because of the chance to play early that defensive line coach Chris Rumph explained to him.

“Coach Rumph said that they really need defensive tackles and that I’m in a really good position to come in and play,” Conliffe said of Rumph’s message to him. “He thinks that I’m more of a nose guard and he was showing me some film of how I would fit into that position.”

Playing early is something that Conliffe has said all along he wanted to do, plus playing in the SEC was a big pull for him.

Now that Conliffe has committed to the Gators he joins early enrollee defensive tackle Kyree Campbell in the class at the position. Florida would like to add at least one more defensive tackle in this on Wednesday.
