Andrew Mike announces he will transfer

Redshirt junior offensive lineman Andrew Mike announced that he would seek playing time elsewhere after he graduates from the University of Florida this semester.

Mike wrote:

“I would like to extend my appreciation to the University of Florida, Coach Mullen, Coach Mac, Coach Muschamp for the opportunity to play and graduate fro such a honored University. To the gator nation, thanks for the undying support through thick and thin.

After much prayer, and consultation with my family and friends I am now seeking to continue my 5th year as a graduate transfer.

I am blessed to have earned a degree and a lifetime of memories from The University of Florida. Go Gators.”

Mike was originally committed to Vanderbilt but flipped his commitment just hours before National Signing Day in 2014. A native of Arizona, Mike was named to the Arizona All-State Div. III First Team Offense in both his junior and senior seasons.

He took a redshirt during his first season in Gainesville and appeared in 27 games during his career in Gainesville. Mike will be immediately eligible after he graduates from Florida this month.

Nick de la Torre
A South Florida native, Nick developed a passion for all things sports at a very young age. His love for baseball was solidified when he saw Al Leiter’s no-hitter for the Marlins live in May of 1996. He was able to play baseball in college but quickly realized there isn’t much of a market for short, slow outfielders that hit around the Mendoza line. Wanting to continue with sports in some capacity he studied journalism at the University of Central Florida. Nick got his first start in the business as an intern for a website covering all things related to the NFL draft before spending two seasons covering the Florida football team at Bleacher Report. That job led him to GatorCountry. When he isn’t covering Gator sports, Nick enjoys hitting way too many shots on the golf course, attempting to keep up with his favorite t.v. shows and watching the Heat, Dolphins and Marlins.
