An excited Lang picks up a Florida Gators offer

The Florida Gators have been giving out a lot of offers over the last few weeks but most them have been to underclassmen in the 2019 and 2020 classes.

However last week running backs coach JaJuan Seider offered tight end Dante Lang (6-5, 220, Boca Raton, FL. High) after he watched him practice.

“Coach Seider offered me,” Lang said of the Gators coach who offered him last week. “He watched my practice and then I called him and he told me about the offer. He said he knew I could play but he just had to me play a little.”

Lang has already picked up double-digit offers but he says getting one from the Gators was a big one.

“It means a lot, to be honest,” he said of the offer means to him. “Florida is just one of my favorite schools and I was excited to get the offer.”

The 2018 prospect plays both tight end and defensive end in high school but Florida sees him on offense in college.

“He offered me as a tight end after watching me,” Lang said of where Florida wants him. “Coach Nord said that it’s rare to find a tight end like me because I can catch and block at my size.”

Despite not having a lot of playing time at tight end, Lang says several schools see that as his future position.

“I play both tight end and defensive end so it’s fine,” he said. “I have a couple of offers at tight end already so it’s fine, I actually like playing tight end.”

Before Florida offered Lang, the tight end took a visit to Gainesville for Florida’s spring game and it was a good visit he says.

“The school is amazing, to be honest and the game was fun,” Lang said of his visit to Florida’s spring game. “I like how they did their rotation on offense and a lot of guys played.”

The Gators offer was a big one to Lang but he’s no rush to make a decision as he has some summer visits planned.

“I’m waiting to see who all offers me and then I’m going to take visits,” he said. “I will probably commit before the end of the season.”

INSIDERS TAKE: Arkansas is the school most talked about with Lang but the Gators made a big impression on him when they offered him. Lang is planning on visiting Gainesville and Arkansas this summer before taking official visits this fall.
