CLEARWATER – The third-ranked Florida softball team will wait a day to open its 2010 season. Rain Friday postponed the Gators’ participation in the Wilson-DeMarini Tournament being hosted by South Florida at the Eddie C. Moore Complex.
Florida was scheduled to play twice on Friday afternoon. Weather permitting, the Gators will begin play against East Carolina at noon and then play No. 13 Georgia Tech at 3 p.m. On Sunday, coach Tim Walton will send his team against South Florida at 1:30 p.m. and Long Island at 3:30 p.m.
The Gators open the home portion of their schedule Wednesday against Jacksonville at 5 p.m. Then on Friday through Sunday, Feb. 19-21, Florida is host of the Lipton Invitational, playing Campbell at 3:45 p.m. and Kansas at 6 p.m. Florida plays Marshall at 12:15 p.m. and East Carolina at 2:30 p.m. Saturday before concluding the tournament on Sunday at 12:15 p.m. against East Carolina.
