TULSA, Okla. – Alexandre Lacroix had another big day Friday for the Florida men’s tennis team at the ITA/D’Novo All American Championships hosted by the University of Tulsa.
For the second time in the tournament, ninth-ranked Lacroix rallied after dropping the first set to claim a 3-6, 7-6 (3), 7-6 (7) victory over No. 21 Rhyne Williams of Tennessee. The victory moves Lacroix into the tournament’s quarterfinals for the second straight year. Next up for Lacroix is Virginia freshman Alex Domijan, who advanced to the quarterfinals with a straight-set victory over No.2 Henrique Cunha of Duke.
Then Lacroix and junior Nassim Slilam, the 20th-ranked doubles team in the country, beat the No. 7 team of Williams and John-Patrick Smith from Tennessee, 8-4, and then scored an 8-6 victory in the quarterfinals over Virginia’s Domijan and Jarmere Jenkins. Saturday, the Gator dudo has a meeting with Ohio State’s Chase Buchanan and Blaz Rola.
