I don't know how Hegseth and Trump can claim that Fordow is destroyed. Each bunker buster is supposed to be able to go through 200' of rock before exploding. Fordow is supposedly underneath a half mile of rock, or 2640 feet. In some cases, more than one bomb was sent down the same hole, but I doubt that we sent 13 bunker busters down the same hole, one after the other. Can someone explain this to me?

 

It was reported that they went down the ventilation shafts…that would enable deeper penetration.

They don’t go through 200 feet of rock. It will go through approximately 200 feet of soil. Hardened concrete it’s more like 8 feet from what I read somewhere.

 

Why would the Iranians be dumb enough to do everything else they did to bomb-proof this facility without zig-zagging their ventilation shafts?

 

Why are people assuming they had vertical ventilation shafts to begin with?

Not yet. We’re all going to have to be patient for information. My assumption is that Israel managed to convince us their intelligence on the construction of those facilities was as good as some of the rest of it. In other words, if Israel can put the entire IRGC general staff into a room together and blow it up on game night, then we may trust the blueprints are what they say they are. So now our engineers and munitions experts study the plans, concluding it can be done if and only if the buildings are struck in a certain method, sequence, and timing. After the strikes, said experts study the game film frame by frame and determine that the method, sequence, and timing went according to plan. Until we receive actual BDA from the Iranians via human and/or signal intelligence, I think that’s the best we’re going to get. Can’t speak to any thermal exhaust port or how many Bothans died to get us the plans

I was in favor of the strikes on two conditions: 1) that they would destroy the facilities, and 2) that it would take the existing nuclear material inaccessible for quite some time. The first remains to be seen but the second is pretty concerning that we don’t where it’s located.
